Carmen J. Gonzalez, also known as, Carmen Colon, age 58, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 02, 2022 at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on October 19, 1964 to Carmen Judith Diaz and Julio Gonzalez. Carmen’s proffession was to be the matriarch of her family. She was also a chef, doctor, therapist, teacher, supporter, dancer, comedian, picasso, musician, babysitter and a warrior to her family and friends. She came to New York at 14 years old and wasnt even able to speak English at the time. She was able to overcome many obstacles and was the foundation of her family. She had 5 children, all by C-Sections. In 1999 she donated bone marrow to her son, Jonathan Mercado, who later passed of Leukemia, in 2000. In 2004 she donated her Kidney to her daughter Kellyneth, she did anything she could do to save her kids lives. In 2017 she also got her license to be a foster mother, she loved the kids! Most importantly Carmen was home. She was the safe haven.  Carmen was the best person to be around and loved by everyone. In January 2022 Carmen was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She fought like a soldier, pushing through for her family. Unfortunately, her soul was way too beautiful for this earth and so God called her home. Carmen was the true definition of a superwoman, a warrior. While she is in heavenwrapped around Gods arms and reunited with her son, Jonathan Mercado, she is forever living in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her children, Kellyneth, Benjamin, Jean Carlos, Jonathan and Alexa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Iarelis, Briana, Haley, Benjamin III, Skylin, Aaliyah, Jaycean, Jonathan A., Jovanni, Anais and Alayna, also by her great grandson Leevi.
