Juanita Torres sadly passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the age of 89. She lived in New York City and called Spanish Harlem home.
Mom came to New York from Caguas, Puerto Rico at the age of 18. Shortly after, she began bringing her siblings to New York with her for a better life. There were 15 of them and she was the eldest.
She met my dad in the late 1950’s and they married and were known as “Helo and Jenny” in the neighborhood. Not long after 3 lovely daughters were born.
She was survived by her 2 daughters Maritza Roman and Jennifer Cruz, her son-in-law Frank Roman, her 3 grandsons which she adored more than life itself, Jarrid Roman, Spencer Roman and Kendall Roman, her siblings Luis Torres, Felicita Torres, Carmen Rios and Irene Torres and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Let’s not forget two very important ladies, Brianda and Martita who took care of mom as if she was their blood-relative. God bless these ladies always. They were amazing.
Meeting mom in heaven are my sister Angela Cruz and my dad Angel Cruz. I am sure they were waiting for mom on Friday to help her on her way to her new home.
Mom had many beautiful friends and neighbors whom loved her very much and she them. I feel blessed that she had so much love surrounding her constantly.
Lastly, I’d like to say that I am honored that God paired me to the most perfect Mother for Me. She gave me and my entire family and friends unconditional love and respect and the simplest life which was just beautiful and perfect.
I will never forget you…. Ever! Please give Angie and Papi a big hug and a kiss.
Thank you mom. Love you forever…..
